General Description

The mobile point of sale functionality is implemented using task Walkabout. The Task Walkabout systems involves clerks carrying handheld computers that use wireless network (via access points) and have the POS application installed. This network allows users of the handheld to perform tasks without continually visiting the static Point of Sale.

The way the Task Walkabout operates is very simple. the back office application is responsible for handling sales data, products, clerk and other related data. It is the data warehouse and controller for all attached POS device types, with Task Walkabout as one of those device types.

The Task Walkabout system handles all relevant Product, Category and Clerk information from Task Connect. The users of Task Walkabout can then use this information to perform Clerk logins and send complemented sales data to Task Connect.

Task Walkabout extends the point of sale to include all feasible locations and removes reliance on a static point of reference. This in turn, gives possibilities to new ways for businesses to conduct everyday procedures.
